Paint and Coatings

Coating is a kind of solid coating film used on the surface of protected or decorated objects. It has the functions of protection, decoration, insulation and anticorrosion. It can be divided into liquid and solid forms. The coating can form a firmly attached continuous film with the coating, usually mainly resin, or oil, or emulsion, with or without pigments, fillings, adding corresponding auxiliaries, and prepared with organic solvents or water.

Paint refers to the organic solvent as the medium or high solid, solvent-free oily paint.

The difference between paint and paint：

A: most of the early paints were based on vegetable oil, so they were named paint, but now the synthetic resin will completely replace the vegetable oil. The apparent characteristics of the paint are liquid and cannot cover solid paint, and it is not appropriate to name it after the paint. Change it to paint.

B: simply say that paint can cover solid powder paint and liquid paint, but paint can only be liquid paint, can not be equated with paint, the word paint can cover all kinds of products in the industry.

C: at present, waterborne coatings and powder coatings are widely used in the market, especially architectural coatings dominated by waterborne paints account for about 38% of the total amount of coatings in China, but there are essential differences in chemical properties between waterborne coatings and paints. The properties of the products are also very different, so this kind of material is also called paint. Waterborne paint and oil paint should be juxtaposed as two different series of liquid coatings.
